For Inktober 2018, Angela wanted to focus her practice on spot blacks. Spot blacks are large areas of solid black. A couple of masters, who Angela used as inspiration, are Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and Jason Lutes (Berlin).

Inked using a brush pen and Carbon Platinum Pen on Bristol smooth. To encourage her use of spot blacks, she also used a 15mm chisel Uni Posca pen in black and an Extra Bold Water-based Paint Sharpie Marker. Watch some Bob Ross and then use one of these fat pens to do landscapes. Eye opening.

Inktober is a celebration of ink. In October each year, artists flock to their art boards and do an ink drawing every day. Angela has participated many times. She collected her 2017 illustrations with flash fiction in Her Blood and Bone.
