For one of my assignments at The Center for Cartoon Studies, we had to do a "journalism" comic. So I went to VINS, the Vermont Institute of Natural Science, which is a bird rescue, and interviewed one of the staff and met a couple of the birds. One was this red-tailed hawk. It was amazing to sit in a room and watch the trainer interact with the birds.

I also got to meet a little American kestrel, which was adorable. If I can find my notes again after all this time, I would like to do a comic about that little guy, too.
